Weekdays I read ingredient lists. Weekends I read horses.

Horses, a bamboo sword, a baseball glove, a trumpet, and my small white best friend, Bori.

Connecting people and materials.

I lead sales in cosmetic ingredients, which mostly means connecting people and materials and then staying out of the way. Before that I served in the Republic of Korea Army Special Forces, and in 2002 I deployed to East Timor with the UN peacekeeping force. What I took from it: prepare until it is boring, then make no excuses on the day. I use the same rule at the stables, the dojo, the ballpark and the concert hall.

Off the clock I ride, practice kendo, play baseball and trumpet. The common thread is that you only get better by showing up every week.

Photos, with one line each

Facts and excuses, mixed.

Sono Felice riding competition, 1st place. The top step is higher than it looks.
3rd place, individual, Incheon Kendo Association Cup. Hard to hold a trophy and a certificate at once. A good problem.
Excellence Award, 2024 Yeonsu-gu Mayor's Cup. Certificate on the wall, medal out of Bori's reach.
Special Forces. This is where I learned how to endure.
East Timor, 2002. Blue berets, and a promise we kept.
Incheon Brass Band Orchestra, 7th regular concert. Trumpets sit in the back row.
Cassiopeia, an amateur baseball team named after a constellation. Our standings are about as far away.
Bori. Highest-ranking member of the household.
